Madrid was recently featured in COPE’s radio show “Dossier COPE,” focused on leisure in Spain. A great opportunity to share our sensory dining concept, guest testimonials, and be part of a national conversation on reconnection and meaningful experiences.

Spanish radio COPE regularly dedicates its programming to major themes that shape society. In their series “Dossier COPE,” they explore deep social trends through interviews, reports, and personal accounts. The episode titled El ocio en España. Desconectar para poder conectar dives into new leisure formats that respond to the growing need to disconnect… in order to reconnect.

Among the many projects featured, COPE chose to include a testimonial from Dans le Noir ? Madrid. Our unique sensory and human reconnection experience offered a fresh perspective on how people enjoy their free time today.

A meaningful conversation

The interview took place outside the dark room, in a welcoming space ideal for open exchange. COPE’s team discovered our concept: a dinner in complete darkness, guided by blind or visually impaired individuals, where everyday markers disappear to give way to a deeply human encounter.

This dialogue shed light on the very essence of our project: fostering genuine connections, encouraging active listening, and giving new meaning to the act of sharing a meal. Dining in total darkness isn’t just a curiosity, it’s a true reconnection with oneself and others.

Moving guest testimonials

Throughout the interview, listeners heard direct quotes from our guests. Many shared their amazement, emotion, and delight after the experience. Some rediscovered forgotten flavors, while others described unexpected conversations. Without light or phones, social barriers fall away and presence becomes whole.

Some guests even told us that a dinner for two ended… as a dinner for four, thanks to spontaneous encounters in the dark. These stories perfectly reflect the magic we strive to offer each night in Madrid.

A social mission at our core

Although this aspect wasn’t discussed during the interview, we feel it’s important to highlight a key element of our mission: social impact. Since opening, we’ve exclusively employed blind or visually impaired individuals as dining room guides. These professionals are not only essential to the experience—they are its heart.

Beyond the emotion of the moment, it’s also a new way of seeing disability, without stereotypes. Empowerment, expertise, and the celebration of talent are the foundation of what we do, every single day.

A moment in the spotlight

We thank COPE warmly for the opportunity to share our story as part of this inspiring episode. Being featured alongside other forward-thinking initiatives is a true honor. It encourages us to continue using leisure as a vector for connection, purpose, and emotion.
