Lulian Abagiu: A Musician in the Dark

Lulian Abagiu is a waiter-guide at Dans le Noir? Madrid. He was born in Romania in 1995 and has been living in Spain with his family since he was 10 years old.

Music, especially the piano, captivated him at the age of 4. To this day, he continues to study diligently to grow in this artistic world.

Although no one in his family had any connection to music before, they supported him from the very beginning. "I couldn't stop playing with a toy piano, and my parents said we could find him a teacher so he can learn for real and have some fun," he recalls.

Currently, Iulian has participated in various events such as concerts, recitals, weddings, and charity galas. He mostly performs Romanian folklore and classical music, and sometimes even sings.

Despite his busy schedule, he enjoys watching series and reading war novels from the 19th and 20th centuries. He describes himself as a friendly, outgoing, and hardworking person.

Iulian joined Dans le Noir? Madrid in the summer of 2021, thanks to a friend who knew about the restaurant. He accepted the opportunity to be part of the team because it allowed him to continue studying music and he was fascinated by the idea of exchanging roles with the customers.

Iulian expresses that he does not see his blindness as an obstacle to achieving what he wants in life. "When you accept yourself as you are, you face adversity with a better attitude, and it's always in your hands to reinvent yourself, change, and progress. In my case, self-acceptance was easy and quick since I have been blind since birth. The most challenging part is for society to understand you, which is why I enjoy working in this restaurant," he says.
